MPS 超強打水系統


What is a MPS?
MPS is an acronym of mobile pumping system. MPS has many of the same components as the GeoMICROBE (e.g., pump, sensors, controller), but is directly powered and controlled in real time via submersible operations. The MPS has been employed repeatedly during each of our expedition to collect pristine basement fluids for a variety of geochemical and microbial studies. We use MPS to pump fluids into large volume (60L) bags or medium volume (15L) bags. For this expedition, we have a setup to pump crustal fluids into a series of six medium volume bags.
MPS 亂翻一通就是”超強打水系統”,這個可不簡單,因為不想要污染水樣,也不想採水器常泡海水會鏽掉,所以整個系統,不是鈦金屬,就是Teflon(萬年塑膠鐵弗龍)。這個採水器大部分組成跟Sled地質微生物採樣雪橇是相同的,都有抽水馬達、溫度探針、溶氧探針等等,但不同的是,這個採水器是放置在研究潛艇上,

然後放置在遠端遙控潛艇(Jason, 傑森號)菜籃子上的超強打水系統。雖然菜籃子真的很像我從原文basket硬翻,但它的功能真的是像菜籃子,因為傑森常得幫地質科學家撿石頭放到菜籃子上,幫生物學家採一堆熱液的管蟲、貝類、螃蟹等等。你猜到傑森得幫我們放什麼東西到它的菜籃子裡了嗎?

The center white valve system helps to redirect fluids from the MPS into different boxes and also to in-line filters attached at the back side of this valve system.

猜到了嗎?我們要傑森幫們採購的是很難取得的海洋岩石圈中的地下水!我們把中型的採水袋子放在塑膠盒子裡面,然後把盒子裝在傑森後面的菜籃子裡。這個高級的菜籃子上面還有防水並耐強力水壓的高級行車記錄器(攝影機),可以讓我們可以看到採樣袋裝滿了沒有。
